Day 1 Redoubt Bay Lodge Location:
Redoubt Bay Lodge sits on a small hill overlooking the Big River Lakes, an hour’s flight south-west of Anchorage. Accessible only by seaplane, the lodge was a hunting camp in the 1940s. In fine weather you can enjoy spectacular views of Cook Inlet and the western Kenai Peninsula during the flight.
Facilities:
Redoubt Bay Lodge is renowned for its good food, served in the restaurant in the main lodge. The lodge also has a small library and a terrace overlooking the garden and the lake. Electricity comes from a generator that is switched off at night, so there is no hot water after 22:00.
Activities:
As the area around the lodge has the highest density of bears in Alaska, guests can watch the bears catching salmon at close quarters. Other activities on offer include salmon fishing (fishing licence not included), hiking, birdwatching, canoe and kayak trips, wine tastings and excursions to Lake Clark National Park.
Rooms:
The 3 rustic cabins each have a simple bathroom, one or two bedrooms and a terrace. Heating is provided by a wood-burning stove.
Day 2 Redoubt Bay Lodge - Anchorage Your return flight depends on your outbound flight. For example, if you arrived on the midday flight, you will also fly back to Anchorage on the midday flight.
