Day 1 Blackheath Make your own way to Blackheath. Your room is available from 14:00, followed by an optional stroll to the nearby rhododendron garden.
Day 2 Blackheath and surroundings Today you pass an imposing sandstone formation and cross one of its cleft valleys, known as ‘The Amphitheatre’. Shortly afterwards you reach MacKillops Lookout and the foot of the Bridal Veil Falls, which plunge 60 metres down a sheer rock face like a veil of water. Enjoy the magnificent view from Govetts Leap and discover why the Blue Mountains look blue. Then descend, with lovely views along the way, into the deep clefts of the canyon.
Day 3 Blackheath – Katoomba This route treats you to an exciting ride on the Blue Mountains Scenic Railway through the rainforest. Afterwards you have the chance to follow a path that miners used more than 100 years ago. Along the way you will see the remains of the mine, its tunnels and galleries. Observant walkers are rewarded: with a little luck, they may spot a rare bird, the lyrebird.
Day 4 Katoomba – Leura Today brings one of the highlights of the tour: the rock formations of the ‘Three Sisters’, shaped by the erosion of the sandstone. A local legend tells of 3 sisters, once human, who fell in love with 3 men from a neighbouring tribe. Tribal law forbade them to marry. This is said to have led to a war, and an elder is said to have turned the sisters to stone to protect them. After visiting the ‘Three Sisters’, you head deep into the Leura forest, where you will find ferns and delicate mosses. The giant rainforest trees and the shafts of sunlight make for a fairytale photo opportunity.
Day 5 Departure from Leura After breakfast, your walk in the Blue Mountains comes to an end with an organised transfer to the local railway station.
