Day 1 Kununurra – Bungle Bungle National Park The tour begins with a scenic flight from Kununurra, during which you can admire the magnificent Ord River, Lake Argyle, Lissadell Station, Texas Downs Station and the rugged Osmond Ranges, before reaching Purnululu National Park, which was relatively unknown until 1983 and was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2003. You are then driven in an air-conditioned 4x4 vehicle to the start of your hike. Your guide leads you on a moderate 3 km walk through the famous eroded towers and beehive-shaped domes of the Domes Walk. Head on to Cathedral Gorge, where you can walk along the towering cliffs that create phenomenal natural acoustics in the gorge. After a full day, you can relax by the pool and admire the magnificent sunset over the East Kimberley region. A delicious dinner is served either in the lodge’s dining room or outdoors under the stars.
Day 2 Bungle Bungle National Park – Kununurra This morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast in the lodge’s dining room before a second day of adventure. A drive of just over an hour takes you to the northern end of the park, along the western wall of the Bungle Bungle Range. Following a rocky path between the cliffs, which narrows in places to less than 1.5 metres wide, you reach Echidna Chasm. This 90-minute hike can be challenging in places and requires a good level of fitness. After a fantastic day of hiking and exploring, you take the return flight to Kununurra, flying over the fascinating Argyle Diamond Mine.
