Day 1 Nadi – Denarau On arrival at the airport, you will be taken to your hotel in Denarau.
Day 2 Denarau – Rakiraki (150 km) After picking up your hire car, today’s stage takes you north-west along the Kings Road and the picturesque coast. On the way, a short detour to the ‘Garden of the Sleeping Giant’, an orchid garden at the foot of the mountain range near Nadi, is well worthwhile. This is also where you will find the ‘Sabeto Hot Springs’, natural mud pools and hot springs. Stop at Vuda Point: this is the site of the ‘First Landing’ – as the name suggests, the place where seafarers first set foot on Fijian soil. Off the coast, a man-made island in the shape of a foot commemorates this event. If you would like to visit a traditional Fijian village, Navala Village is the ideal place, and you will be given a warm welcome. According to Fijian tradition, visitors are asked to bring a bundle of yaqona (pepper roots), from which the typical drink kava is prepared.
Day 3 Rakiraki Today is at your leisure.
Day 4 Rakiraki – Pacific Harbour (190 km) Today the journey continues south. Stop at Takalana Bay and take a boat trip to see the spinner dolphins, which can only be seen here. Once in Suva, we recommend exploring the multicultural city centre. Today’s destination is Pacific Harbour, Fiji’s adventure capital. As well as bungee jumping, rafting, ziplining, shark diving or 4x4 tours, you can also treat yourself to a leisurely round of golf or a few hours’ fishing.
Day 5 Pacific Harbour Today you set off on an excursion into the interior.
Day 6 Pacific Harbour – Coral Coast (70 km) Today’s stage is one of the most beautiful on this self-drive tour, taking you past rolling hills and lovely beaches. In Biausevu, it is well worth stopping for a short walk to the Biausevu Waterfall, which plunges 20 metres. The waterfall can only be visited with a local guide, and there is an entrance fee.
Day 7 Coral Coast - Nadi (100 km) On the last day of your self-drive tour, you leave the Coral Coast region and return to Denarau. Before driving onto the Denarau peninsula, it is worth stopping at the Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple, the largest Hindu temple in Fiji. Thanks to its colourful façade, it is one of the most popular photo subjects in Nadi. In the evening, you return your hire car in Denarau.
Day 8 Denarau – Nadi Today your transfer takes you to the airport.
