Discover the fantastic world of various South Pacific island nations aboard the cruise ship M/S Paul Gauguin. Named after the famous French painter, this luxury ship sails mainly in Polynesian waters, but also in those of the Cook Islands and Fiji, and in November even travels as far as New Zealand.
This cruise ship, which can accommodate 330 passengers, sails the waters of the South Pacific. It was specially designed for travel in this part of the world, and its concept focuses on a relaxed atmosphere with excellent service and luxurious comfort. There is one crew member for every 1.5 passengers, all in keeping with Polynesian traditions. Eight different types of ocean-view cabins (70% of which have a balcony) are spread across seven decks. The ship travels at a speed of 18 knots and features two elegant restaurants (free choice of dining time and table), a poolside grill, a casino, lounges, bars, a swimming pool, a fitness centre, a spa and a platform from which various water sports can be enjoyed, such as kayaking, snorkelling, windsurfing, waterskiing or diving. Some of the cabins are wheelchair-accessible and/or can accommodate 3 or even 4 passengers. Butler service is included in the price from the ‘Veranda Stateroom’ category upwards.

Day 1 Papeete Your Paul Gauguin cruise begins in Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia, on the island of Tahiti. You will discover a remarkable, lively and colourful market, where you will learn a great deal about the everyday life of Tahitians and find all kinds of souvenirs. You will also discover the local woodcraft. Around the harbour, two squares have been redesigned to offer a magnificent view of the impressive ships moored there. The ship departs in the afternoon; you will have time to settle into your cabin before dinner.
Day 2 Huahine Your first stop in the Society Islands is the island of Huahine, known as the ‘garden island’ because of its lush vegetation. During your stay on Huahine, you can visit marae, Polynesian ceremonial sites, or join a diving excursion to discover the fascinating underwater world.
Day 3 Taha’a, Motu Mahana One of the most beautiful places for snorkelling in the Society Islands is undoubtedly Taha’a. The small islands of Taha’a belong to the same atoll as the island of Raiatea. Discover the magnificent seabed on an outing with mask and snorkel. Lunch is served as a barbecue.
Day 4 Bora Bora Today's stage takes you to the best-known of the Polynesian islands, Bora Bora. The island boasts not only the most luxurious hotels but also a wonderful underwater world. The author James Michener described Bora Bora as the ‘most beautiful island in the world’. The main island, with the 727 m high mountain ‘Otemanu’, is surrounded by numerous small islands known as motu, which are exactly what you imagine the South Pacific to be. The Paul Gauguin docks in the morning – discover paradise! You can relax on board or take part in one of the many excursions on offer.
Day 5 Bora Bora This day is also spent discovering the magnificent island of Bora Bora. Relax in the lagoon or take the opportunity to explore the main island on foot!
Day 6 Moorea Today you will discover Tahiti's ‘sister island’, Moorea, which lies 18 km away. Covered in an abundance of fresh fruit and flowers, with spectacular peaks and peaceful, colourful lagoons, Moorea is a place of unrivalled beauty. An island tour by air-conditioned minibus is on offer. Take the opportunity to explore the island or relax on the shores of the lagoon.
Day 7 Moorea – Tahiti You will spend the day on Moorea before boarding at around 17:00 bound for Tahiti. Your last evening is spent in Papeete. With a bit of luck, you may spot dolphins or whales during the crossing – keep your eyes open!
