Days 1 - 2 Alice Springs - Uluru (Ayers Rock) (approx. 450 km) After picking up your hire car, you drive to Uluru (Ayers Rock), the largest inselberg in the world. In the early evening, we recommend watching the play of colours at sunset, when the rock glows in the most beautiful shades of red, violet and orange. Also visit the ‘Field of Lights’, a light installation near Uluru – it is worth seeing not only at sunset but at sunrise too. Enjoy another day in the national park: walk around Uluru and visit the fascinating Aboriginal cultural sites as well as the impressive rock domes of nearby Kata Tjuta (the Olgas).
Days 3 - 4 Uluru (Ayers Rock) - Kings Canyon (approx. 305 km) Today you drive via Curtin Springs, Angas Downs and Kings Creek Station to Watarrka National Park, home of the famous Kings Canyon. We recommend the Kings Canyon Rim Walk, which rewards you with fantastic panoramic views.
Day 5 Kings Canyon - Alice Springs (approx. 330 km) The final leg of your Red Centre journey takes you back to Alice Springs through the vast Australian outback with its red sand dunes. With a little luck, you will spot kangaroos or other native animals along the way.
