Adelaide-Alice Springs Country Adventure

Day 1 Adelaide Today you meet your group and your guides. Then you set off on a city tour before checking in at the hotel.

Day 2 Adelaide – Mungo National Park Today you head north via Gawler and the Barossa Valley to the Sturt Highway. Enjoy a picnic on the banks of the Murray River before reaching Mungo National Park via Mildura.

Days 3–4 Mungo National Park – Broken Hill This morning you explore Mungo National Park. Then you travel through Pooncarie to Menindee, a town of 1,000 inhabitants on the banks of the Darling River. In the late afternoon you arrive in Broken Hill, where you spend two nights. The next day you visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service visitor centre. Then you discover Silverton before returning to Broken Hill, where you visit the Sulphide Street Railway & Historical Museum, the Living Desert Reserve and the Sculpture Symposium.

Day 5 Broken Hill – Tibooburra After a stop at the Line of Lode Miners Memorial, you leave Broken Hill on the Silver City Highway towards Milparinka. You visit some of the old colonial buildings before reaching the small Outback village of Tibooburra.

Day 6 Tibooburra – Innamincka This morning you head to the vast Sturt National Park, where the world's longest fence, the Dog Fence, stretches for more than 5,600 km. In the afternoon you follow the Strzelecki Track to the village of Innamincka on the banks of Cooper Creek, which has no more than 50 inhabitants.

Day 7 Cooper Creek Cruise You cross the Queensland border and visit the ‘Dig Tree’ on the banks of Cooper Creek. Then you board a cruise on Cooper Creek.

Day 8 Innamincka – Leigh Creek This morning you follow the Strzelecki Track to Lyndhurst, then continue towards Leigh Creek, where you spend the night.

Day 9 Leigh Creek – Birdsville Today you take the Oodnadata Track towards Marree, then continue on the famous Outback route, the Birdsville Track. You visit Mungerannie, then travel on to Clifton Hills and Pandie Pandie before reaching your destination for the day.

Day 10 Simpson Desert & Big Red Tour of the town and the Wirrarri Visitor Centre, which houses a large gallery. In the afternoon you discover ‘Big Red’ before returning to your accommodation.

Day 11 Birdsville – Boulia You head to the small village of Bedourie, then continue to Boulia, the capital of the Channel Country. In the afternoon you enjoy a theatre show at the Min Min Encounter Visitor Centre.

Days 12–14 Boulia – Alice Springs You reach Alice Springs via the Plenty Highway. Here you visit the Alice Springs Desert Park, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the Old Telegraph Station, followed by a farewell barbecue dinner.
