Days 1 - 2 Sossusvlei (approx. 330 km) Your journey begins in Windhoek with a road transfer to Sossusvlei, taking you through fantastic desert and mountain scenery. Early on the morning of the second day, you admire the fascinating play of light on the dunes of Sossusvlei, some of which rise up to 300 metres high. In the afternoon, you can go for a walk or join an excursion to discover the flora and fauna of the Namib Desert. Overnight at Kulala Desert Lodge or similar.
Days 3 - 4 Swakopmund (approx. 370 km) Today you continue north by light aircraft to the little town of Swakopmund – the views of the landscape from the air will thrill you. The next day, you join a boat trip from Walvis Bay to Sandwich Harbour (weather permitting), where you can watch seals and dolphins. The rest of the day is at leisure, so you can explore the town on your own. Overnight at the Hansa Hotel or similar.
Day 5 Skeleton Coast (approx. 350 km) The journey continues overland along the legendary Skeleton Coast. It owes its name to the ships that ran aground on this coast, and their wrecks, some partly buried in sand, can still be seen today. The region is still very wild and virtually uninhabited. Overnight at Terrace Bay Lodge or similar.
Days 6 - 7 Hoanib (approx. 140 km) Continue along the Skeleton Coast with a stop at the interesting Möwe Bay Museum. You then reach Hoanib Camp, set on the Hoanib River. This barren, inhospitable landscape is just as impressive as the number and variety of animals that have made their home here. Look out for the rare desert-adapted elephants and lions, as well as Africa’s largest population of black rhinos. The freshwater springs also ensure the survival of Hartmann’s mountain zebras, giraffes, oryx and many other animals. During your stay, you can take part in a range of activities to explore this unique region and its extraordinary wildlife. Overnight at Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp or similar.
Days 8 - 10 Damaraland (approx. 280 km) The journey continues north into the magnificent Palmwag Concession. In the north of Damaraland, Desert Rhino Camp runs the ‘Save the Rhino Trust’ project together with Wilderness Safari. The area covers 450,000 hectares, and safaris are offered by day and by night. Overnight at Desert Rhino Camp or similar.
