Day 1 Perth – Fitzgerald River National Park The tour sets off early in the morning, heading east to the Darling Ranges and then on to York, the oldest historic inland town in Western Australia. Lunch is served in the shade of Wave Rock, a unique granite formation that is around 2.7 billion years old. The journey continues to Fitzgerald River National Park, where you set up camp for the night.
Day 2 Fitzgerald River National Park – Esperance/Cape Le Grand After breakfast, a hike up East Mt Baron is on the programme. Then it’s on to Esperance, on the edge of the vast Nullarbor Plain, which links Western Australia with South Australia. No fewer than 9 spectacular national parks lie in the Esperance region. Cape Le Grand National Park is home to Lucky Bay, considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. With a bit of luck, you can watch kangaroos on the beach here. The afternoon is at your leisure to explore the area.
Day 3 Esperance/Cape Le Grand – Stirling Ranges National Park The day begins with a hike up Frenchman's Peak, from where you enjoy magnificent views of the coastline of Cape Le Grand National Park. You then continue to the Stirling Ranges, with their two mountain chains rising to 1000 metres. More than 1500 plant species are native to the national park, 87 of which are endemic.
Day 4 Stirling Ranges National Park – Quinninup You leave the south-west coast, with its many rock formations such as the Natural Bridge and its white sandy beaches, and head inland to the Valley of the Giants. This region is known for its mighty karri forests, whose trees grow up to 60 metres tall and are found only in the south-west of Australia. On a walk you will discover the true size of these giant trees, which you can also climb. In the past, the trees served as lookout towers for the early detection of forest and bush fires. The day ends in Quinninup, where you camp tonight.
Day 5 Quinninup – Margaret River The drive takes you through the karri forests and vast farmland to Margaret River, a small town that has become famous above all for its many wineries. The coast around Margaret River is also hugely popular with surfers, as, depending on the season, the waves here can tower up to 7 metres high. In the afternoon you have time to explore the region at your own pace.
Day 6 Margaret River – Perth On the last day of your trip, the focus is on Aboriginal culture. With a local guide you will learn about bush food and bush medicine. The highlight of the day is a visit to Ngilgi Cave, where you will hear fascinating stories and listen to the sound of the didgeridoo. After this memorable cultural experience, you travel on to Perth, where your tour ends.
