Make your dream of a trip to Namibia come true and discover the countless treasures of this desert country. Namibia is famous for the ochre-coloured dunes of Sossusvlei. They rise up to 320 metres high, and the view from the top is simply breathtaking. Close by lies Deadvlei, a dried-out clay pan that offers photographers the perfect backdrop: dead camel thorn trees, seemingly turned to stone, create a striking colour contrast between the orange dunes and the brilliant blue sky.
Southern Namibia
The Kalahari Desert in southern Namibia is the country’s second-largest arid region, stretching across a vast area into South Africa and Botswana. Southern Namibia is also home to the Fish River Canyon, the second-largest canyon in the world after the Grand Canyon. The coastal town of Swakopmund offers a welcome change from Namibia’s desert landscapes and a wide range of activities – from catamaran cruises and quad bike tours to boat trips. This small town on the Atlantic coast, with its distinctly German character, also boasts an excellent choice of good restaurants serving oysters and fresh fish, among other things. A safari in Etosha National Park, where wildlife sightings are part of everyday life, is sure to be one of the highlights of any trip to Namibia.
Northern Namibia
A safari in Damaraland, where you can observe the rare desert elephants, is a unique experience. The barren landscape is fascinating in itself – not to mention the spectacular play of colours at sunset. The rock paintings at the Brandberg and at Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, are also among the highlights of this region. The green Zambezi Region (formerly the Caprivi Strip), which links Namibia with neighbouring Botswana, is a fascinating experience that you should not miss on a safari in Namibia. The remote Skeleton Coast with its stranded shipwrecks, the Kaokoveld further north, home of the nomadic Himba people, and the impressive region around the Waterberg are also well worth a visit.
Self-drive tours
Set off on an adventure and explore the country on your own! Depending on the length of your trip and the region, we recommend a 4x4 vehicle for your self-drive tour. Camping fans will also be in their element in Namibia: as a specialist, voyageplan offers you a wide choice of vehicles with rooftop tents. We also have a broad range of guided tours – individual or in small groups – as well as family holidays and fly-in safaris, on which you see the landscape as usually only the birds do.
